Have you noticed how Harper negotiates behind militarized police lines with Bush? MMP & election reform... & keeping OUR RESOURCES UNDER RESPONSIBLE CANADIAN MANAGEMENT is contingent on KEEPING OUR VOTES FRAUD-FREE. Where is the implementation plan? where is the TESTED proof that there will be an error-free, fraud-free ballot count? JOSEPH STALIN ONCE SAID, "The people who cast the votes don't decide an election: the people who count the votes do."

Those are good points. I'm not trying to argue, I just haven't studied this particular issue much. I'll remember that. I wasn't trying to suggest fear would be a proper deterrent. That's why in America states with the death penalty tend to have higher homicide rates.

Look around. does nayone look "detered" to you. "Deterent". Who the Hell is some corrupt government to tell ME what plants I can use. Pot has only been illegal since 1923. How did humans ever survive before we had these laws to protect us from ourselves?

why deter anyone with fear? Why not deter them with education, and give them the freedom to fuck up if they like. No war is "needed". The more they crack down on gorw-ops, the more lucrative and numerous they become. The only way it would be a realdeterranrt is if we hung people in the town square or shot them on the front lawn of the grow-op. You wanna live in a country like that?

Good point. I wasn't really trying to spark discussion on that, but..that relates to how the war on drugs is being fought. Perhaps that's a problem, but the "war" itself is needed. They've recently busted many marijuana grow-ops and cracked down on gangs. Not that I'm trying to side with Tory stance on crime, but the idea of a government regulating once illegal drugs..I don't see how that acts as any more of a deterrent. Legalising it would make it even more of an issue to the general public.

explain how the war on certain drugs is good at all. "It deters people...." No. It is an INCENTIVE....

Yes because evangelical war-mongerers are known for their fact-based arguments..I don't believe the war on drugs is essentially a bad thing..other than that I agree with RussL completely.

A Tory Attack Dog??? Pretty much Neutered if you ask me. As a matter of fact the whole Tory party is full of Harper's spayed "pets". Not one pulling on his pant leg as he moves to the center on all his policies...toothless dogs with little or no principals. haha

They want to spend more money on jails and cops, but not relieve the sources of crime, like poverty. They refuse to regulate drugs, even though it would make us safer, richer, healthier, etc. They want to continue and INCREASE the War On Drugs. The want to take away people's rights to same sex marriage and safe abortions, and would have no qualms about using the notwithstanding clause to rob people of those charter rights.

They are quasi-moralistic ideologues who ignore fact science history and common sense. They insist that crime is Rampant, yet statistics show that crime is actually decreasing.
