Description: In interviewing people for my documentary on the Ducky Boys Gang of the 1960's, we got to talking about the bad reputation of the Bronx, and how it came about. In this clip, Prof Ultan tells how the reputation was gotten during a combination of Jimmy Carter, Howard Cosell and the Yankees, and the movie Fort Apache the Bronx... And how 30 years later, this reputation isn't valid anymore.. |

You remember me from the Bx County Historical Society. Keep in touch! "I got the biggest write-up in World History because I'm the only one who brought a tape recorder to the massively behemoth 1974 California Jam. This should be the biggest thing since King Tut." -Scott Lifshine, World's Filmmaker Extraordinaire and Lifelong Bronx Resident __________________________________________________

EdMutz ::: Favorites 2007-11-22 12:25:01 Hey J, Did you delete my original message? It said "Mr Ultan really looks like he loves the Bronx" (or something like that) __________________________________________________
jimboxlax ::: Favorites 2007-11-21 18:03:05 I agree with you in that the Bronx isn't near an idyllic paradise... But it doesnt deserve the reputation of being one of the worst boroughs/areas in the world... There are plenty of places much worse... (and plenty of places much better... It all depends what part of the Bronx you're talking about... Woodlawn & Riverdale are definitely not in the same category of Fordham, but Norwood is definitely a place that has some nice (and crummy) places too.. __________________________________________________
EwingOil ::: Favorites 2007-11-21 00:22:41 He is delusional. The Bronx is better than is was in '77. But that's not saying much. There is much work still to be done in the Bronx. He must hang out in like Riverdale or something, the Bronx ain't pleasantville. Not by a longshot. __________________________________________________
alapoet ::: Favorites 2007-11-04 19:07:01 Interesting! It seems things have changed since the heyday of the Ducky Boys... __________________________________________________ |
