Description: This game is not to be confused with the flash game Mario Forever. Whoever made this game just decided to call it "Super Mario Forever". After only 3 hours and hundreds of savestates, I beat the game (only 4 levels) and edited into the movie the parts where I did fine in the levels. Death is edited out, you can tell where I re-recorded it when the music or frames skip a little. (but sometimes that's just YouTube, not the video) Special thanks to jkwong111 for making his hilarious commentary on the hack and introducing me to it, and thanks to deadicatedartist for showing me where to get this game. And Nintendo, for producing it originally. Finally, thanks to that cruel, sadistic level designer somewhere out there, whatever your name is. You know who you are. :) Here's my little commentary on the levels: ------------ Level 1 The beginning took me a little time to figure out, you have to press and hold the jump button in that little window of time when the screen turns black after showing Mario's lives and the level starts. And the invisible blocks were killers. I couldn't do the whole spring thing that the guy in jkwong111's video did, so I went through the walls with the moving platform to make it easier. Nothing big in this level, really. Interesting fact: because of something really evil in level 2, I, despite the use of savestates, HAD to play this level three times because of a major blunder I made twice. ------------ Level 2 The beginning gave me LOADS of trouble, but I happily used a savestate when I got past that jump with the invisible block. The guy in jkwong111's video did eventually make it to some goombas, and it took me a while to figure this out, but that is the WRONG way to go. There is a dead end with a wall and a pit to kill yourself in. The pipe up high is where to go. Now, here's where I made my major blunder. The single brick block in this room contains a 1-up, and if you hit the block from below for any reason, it will not appear again unless you reset the game. (meaning you have to beat level 1 again!) In the part with the larger moving platforms, part of the second time I made my blunder was because if you just waltz on through past everything and take the pipe out, it takes you back to the room with the brick block - but it's gone. Time to reset. You have to make the platform after the hammer bro fall below the screen THEN enter the pipe, and it will exit you next to the flagpole. ------------ Level 3 Easy, easy level. After all I had gone through, this was a surprise and a relief. The whole flower thing didn't really matter, though, because of the beginning of the next level. ------------ Level 4 You may have immediately noticed that I am small, but I beat the previous level with a flower. This is because I got stuck on the springboard after saving, and had to kill myself. Plus, I don't think this part is humanly possible while large. This was the hardest, most time-consuming part of the game, because of so many randomness factors involved: -did I jump at the right time? -was I going fast enough? -is it the correct time for a bullet bill to spawn? -DID THE BULLET BILL SPAWN IN THE RIGHT PLACE? You have to jump onto the springboard, and bounce on the bullet bill over the lava IF AND ONLY IF the bullet bill randomly generated there at the right moment. Evil. The rest was a series of moving platforms you have to navigate through to get to Bowser. The part with the springboard here was very tricky. Bowser sure can spit that fire fast! It cost me about 4 re-records. After getting through his blocks at the end while dodging his hammers, just jump over him to grab the axe. ------------ After beating the game, level 1 did not change. I just assume that those 4 useless goombas at the dead end in level 2 are now buzzy beetles, being the only difference. I didn't bother. Anyone wishing to download this game and try it for themselves should download it from deadiatedartist's video's description. If you play it in an emulator and you get some water level labeled "0-1", use a different emulator. FCEU doesn't work, but JNES and Famtasia work. |
