isn't 'particle physics' a hint about where they go wrong? why build a gigantic device to create less than one billionth of a joule.. why smash things together in mindless particle thinking when there is a wave nature that can be used.. there was a video about CERN in which a guy said 5000 physicists work there and if it can generate that much interest they must be on to something. has the emperor's new clothes been completely in vain

The Michelson--Morley experiment. That's exactly what I was thinking! Have you been to the betting shop yet? I was just wondering what the odds might be. ;-J

Wow... cool to see the inside of SLAC after hearing about it so much from my wifes uncle, Ronnie Koontz. What a small world considering I found your video via your Wifeofnalts broadcast. :)

So US will quit the High Energy Physics experiment while CERN will continue that? Why will they continue if this experiment has Diminishing returns?

Looks like Doc Oc's laboratory Spidey! But where's the fusion reactor? Can't believe we let those lamebrains at CERN beat us!

We lost a long time ago. A little over a year from now BaBar will shut down and SLAC will no longer be host to a major High Energy Physics experiment. The LINAC will instead be used to power an X-ray laser (the LCLS) to characterize proteins and stuph. By 2010 there will be no major accelerator based High Energy Physics experiment running in the US. Diminishing returns make it nigh on impossible to justify the steadily increasing expenditures needed to fund such experiments.
